The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising is also very worth the mentioning. For starters, they have several campuses all over California, which allow more diversity as far as who can get in. They too consider themselves a pinnacle of design education, and this is evident by the fact that the hit show Project Runway is shot on a FIDM campus. In addition, the school offers serious internship and apprenticeship possibilities for hard working students that meet the criteria.
The last school to be discussed won the Best Fashion Design & Apparel Design Schools & Programs of 2008 award. The Academy of Art University was founded in San Francisco eighty years ago, and has not slowed down ever since. The best part of this institute is that they offer at least most of the required credits through online courses. These companies are said to pick amongst AAU graduates: Louis Vuitton, DKNY, BCBG, Kenneth Cole and many more.

FIDM all the way! If you want a school that prepares you for a career straight right when you become a student then FIDM is the place. I went there despite what a lot of my friends were telling me because I believed in what the school offered! All their graduates are doing amazing things and they were the school chosen for Project runway this season! They have amazing connections in the Fashion and Entertainment industries...just come to one of their Open Houses like I did and you can meet some of their graduates working on major motion pictures and for major clothing lines. I really fell in love with the school by visiting it and learning more about it first hand through one of the advisors. I also have had a few of my friends who swear that the school is amazing and you learn more there in 2 years than you can at a four year college. I am at FIDM right now and I am glad I made the choice to go there and believe me, if you want a challenge and you work hard then this school will challenge you!An education is something to invest in and I looked for all ways to get the money for school from scholarships to internships...the school was also very willing to help me as well.
